Pancreas cancer is present and develops for years before detection because there are no physical symptoms until after the disease has spread. However, groundbreaking research at the Huntsman Cancer Institute at the University of Utah has identified a number of “markers” that are present in the blood before the cancer has spread. Testing can detect these markers and, for those who test positive, further testing by CT scan and endoscopic ultrasound can verify the presence and nature of the cancer. Surgery can then be employed to cure the disease.

Much of the research on early detection has been supported by federal grants and further necessary research will be supported, in part, by additional grants. However, there is a gap between the cost of the necessary research and the amount of grant funding likely to be available in this era of shrinking federal support for biomedical research. Our best estimate is that that gap is close to $1 million.

We need your help to fill that gap. 100% of your donations will go to support this research. Follow this link to make a donation now.
